Protec move & reactivate a unit

Move a unit to a new sub-location and reactivate it — nine steps.

Read the general rules first

ACall before you start. 609-267-2666, Ext 3. Every start and stop of data gets logged on our end.

BScrew it down whenever you can. Sandbag only when the surface won't take a screw.

CThe stainless bolt ships installed — up through the aluminum plate and the dead center of the SWARM. It protects the sensor in transit.

DWork through steps 1 to 9 below, in order. Start with step 1 and do not skip one.

  1. 1

Write down where it is now

    • The sub-location it is leaving goes on the form — the exact spot on the ground, not the site name.
    • Short and specific, under 30 characters. NE corner of lot, 3212 DeKalb Pike.
    • Both the old and the new sub-location are recorded. Reports use them to show where the unit was on any given day.
  2. 2

Open the case and power it down

    • Unlock the case and unlock it from its anchor. Combo 5150.
    • Hold the power button 3 seconds until it shuts off.
  3. 3

Free the unit and set it up to travel

    • Screwed down? Back out the two silver 12" and the black 8". Keep all three.
    • Sandbagged? Lift the bag off. Nothing to unscrew.
    • Bolt back in from underneath — head outside the floor, washer and nut inside on top. No threads out the bottom. Snug only, never over tighten.
    OKNO
  4. 4

    Pick the install screw-in preferred

    • 3.1
Will a 12" screw drive in? Dirt, gravel, grass, soil — screw it down. Concrete, asphalt, wood — go to section 4.
    • 3.2
Set the case flat in its final spot.
    • 3.3
Only time the bolt comes out. Bolt, nut and washer come out and go in the box.
    • 3.4
Silver 12″: bottom-left hole and top-right hole — these just hold the case down. Black 8″: dead center of the SWARM, through the plate.
    • 3.5
Silver screws drive normal. Black center screw slow, hand tight only. Over-drive it and the washer pulls through the bottom of the sensor — permanent damage.
    battery OMNIDOTS SWARM · XAMPLE

    Black 8″ — dead center.  Silver 12″ — bottom-left and top-right, diagonally opposite.

nut, on top washer, on top SWARM aluminum plate case floor bolt head, outside

Bottom to top: head outside, up through the case floor, the aluminum plate, then the SWARM. Washer and nut on top.

The orange one is the black 8″ through the center of the SWARM — hand tight only.

    OKNO

Left: washer flat on the sensor. Right: over-driven, washer pulled through the bottom. Permanent.

  5. 5

Won't take a screw? Sandbag it no anchors

    • Concrete, asphalt and wood.
    • No screws. No holes used.
    • Bolt, nut and washer stay in and snug — the center hardware always passes through the aluminum plate.
    • Case flat, weighted sandbag on top. No exceptions.
    SANDBAG

Bolt stays in, head resting on the surface. No screws, no holes.

  6. 6

Lock it shut, lock it down

    • Lock through a hole already in the case — either side.
    • Chain through that same lock, around something fixed: fence, pole, structure.
    • Chain won't reach itself? Second lock at the fixed point.
    • Combo 5150. Spin the dials before you go.
    2nd 5150

Second lock at the post when the chain can't loop back to itself.

  7. 7

    Press the button once

    • One press powers it up.
    • It auto-levels about ten seconds. Hands off.
    • Wait for breathing green / white (7.6).
    one pressauto-levels ~10 sec

Auto-levels about ten seconds — don't bump the case.

8Read the light before you leave

Flashing = 50 ms. Blinking = 1 sec. Breathing = 1 sec fade. Omnidots' own list:

FLASHING50 msBLINKING1 secBREATHING1 sec, faded

Breathing is the slow fade — that is what 7.6 looks like.

Breathing green / white (7.6) is what you want — measuring and on the server. Then you can leave. Anything else, call tech support before you go.

Protec mover y reactivar una unidad

Mover una unidad a otra sub-ubicación y reactivarla: nueve pasos.

Lea primero las reglas generales

ALlame antes de empezar. 609-267-2666, Ext 3.

Permanente.

  5. 5

¿No acepta tornillo? Saco de arena sin anclajes

    • Concreto, asfalto y madera.

  7. 7

    Presione el botón una vez

    • Una pulsación la enciende.
    • Se autonivela unos diez segundos. No la toque.
    • Espere verde / blanco respirando (7.6).
